Abstract

Hanglongbing (HLB), caused by the bacterium Candidatus Liberibacter spp is currently the greatest threat of citrus in the State of São Paulo. The production ciutrus fresh fruits under screen, protected from its vector, the psilid Diaphorina citri Kuwayama, can be an alternative for small and medium citrus growers to remain in the activity, being necessary to obtain more information about the behavior of the plants in this system. With respect to the evaluation of the growth of the root system, digitized image with the use of minirhizotrons has been successfully used in several cultures, allowing sequential analysis over time without damage sampling. Digitized images can also be used to evaluate the growth of the aerial part and to assist in the evaluation of production systems. The objective of this work is to evaluate plant root and shoot growth with digitized images in a screen protected environment aiming at producing citrus fresh fruit. In two environments (covered with screen and with plastic), evaluated two different crowns: 'Ponkan' tangerine and 'Dekopon' tangor, grafted on two rootstocks: 'Trifoliata' and 'Flying Dragon'. The experimental design will the randomized blocks with two treatments (scions), in four replicates for each rootstock, in each environment and five plants per plots. With the use of root scanner CI-6000-TA66 (Tecnal®) and acrylic tubes installed to roots access and obtain images, there will be evaluated at every four months the cumulative root density, root distribution in the soil and root depth. There will be also evaluated in the aerial part, the stem diameter of the rootstock and scion, leaf area and the profile area of the canopy with digitized images. For analysis of the images, be it employee or SIARCS® 3.0 software. (AU)
