Abstract

A postdoctoral fellowship aiming new experimental and computational techniques in the field of Coherent Optical Communications is requested. Those technologies comprise the characterization and modeling of photonic devices, as well as the fast optical carrier distortion effects induced by them. Among such effects, it is possible to highlight the chirp characterization and its application in the pre-compensation of dispersive phenomena in semiconductor optical amplifiers and diode lasers. In addition, jitter and spectral spread analyses of continuous wave electromagnetic emissions are contemplated. The project also comprises observations of harmonic distortions and bias drift control of silicon photonics electro-optical ring modulators. A real time scope ultrafast acquisition of coherent detected optical carrier information, and the offline numerical algorithms are the kernel of our process. During the candidate master's and doctoral periods, three full papers were published (with impact factor greater than 3.5), eight articles presented at scientific conferences, and four pending patents licensed to the Brazilian industry Padtec.
