Abstract The aim of the present proposal is to make systematic observations of Ultra-Luminous Infrared Galaxies (ULIRGS) in the 183 GHz line of the H2O molecule, making use of the Band 5 receiver that will be available at LLAMA. The observations of maser lines and their spectral energy distribution will bring insight on the emitting sources. The masers detected in ULIRGS could be complemented by observations with ALMA. Furthermore, since these objects are probably relatively strong extragalactic sources, they are candidates to be observed with VLBI. The variability of the maser lines is of interest. This work will be complemented on the technical side by a study of the methods of calibration of line intensities and the reliability of variability measurements. | |
