Abstract

Isotopic studies of the inner domain from the Paraguay Belt The structural setting, the composition and age of magmatic rocks and the sedimentary provenance from the Paraguay Belt inner domain (allochthonous?) are approaches that aim to distinguish, in this domain, geological signatures from active margin or asymmetric rift distal zone. The search of this paleogeographic configuration places this thrust-and-fold belt in a continental margin or as an intraplate belt. In this context, we seek for the Paranapanema Block, the microcontinent or the thinned margin of Amazonian Craton characteristic. In this IC project, the student will be in touch from the bibliography and in field works, with the metavolcanosedimentary rocks of the Nova Xavantina Sequence and the metasedimentary rocks of the Cuiabá Group. He will also participate in the detailed sampling process and in a geological-structural section in search of relationships between these units. The petrographic descriptions of these rocks, the samples preparation, mineral separation, both for chemical and isotopic analyses and U-Pb data acquisition through zircon LA-ICP-MS are part of this project. He will also participate in the interpretation process of the results. (AU)
