Abstract

Dentistry has gradually developed over the years. From reparative, to prevention area and, currently, the advent of Aesthetic Dentistry is on focus. Therefore, research on aesthetic restorative materials is needed in order to predict functional and aesthetic performance. The aim of this study is to evaluate the effect of thermocycling medium (water or mineral oil) on flexural strength of esthetic restorative materials (Filtek Z350 XT and Filtek Bulk fill), isolating the hydrolytic degradation of in water thermal cycling. Forty bars of each material will be obtained in a Teflon mold with the light-curing with 1400mW/cm2 according manufacturer instructions. After 24 hours, samples will be thermal cycled in water or mineral oil (10.000 cycles at 5° and 55°C, baths of 30s). As control groups will considered samples stored in water or mineral oil at 37°C. Data of flexural strength (MPa) will be submitted to statistical analysis for comparison among groups. (AU)
