Abstract

The project consists in a long-term research program (5-years) to study the interactions between entrepreneurship, innovation, and economic growth in Brazil. The work is realized under the supervision of Professors Andre Tosi Furtado (UNICAMP), Nicholas Vonortas (The Washington University, USA; and UNICAMP) and the kind contribution from , Professor Charles Edquist from Lund University, Sweden. The systems of innovation (SI) approach has been used as a basis for a general definition of an SI. According to this definition, a system of innovation includes 'all important economic, social, political, organizational, institutional and other factors that influence the development, diffusion and use of innovations' (Edquist, 1997; Edquist 2005; Edquist and Hommen 2008). Systems of innovation may be national, regional or sectoral.
