Abstract

From the data described in the literature, it is possible to realize that the therapeutic uses of pequi fruit (Caryocar brasiliense Camb.) In folk medicine can be justified scientifically by the high content of vitamin C and carotenoids that it contains, besides being rich in phenolic compounds present in its pulp. However, its exploitation for the use of its fruit and its wood is purely extractive, and the exhaustion of this plant is already foreseen in the near future. Therefore, the use and marketing of products made from the fruit of the pequi have been seen as a way to guarantee their valorization and permanence. In this direction, through project nº 38717 PIBITI ISB (2016), creams with antioxidant activity were developed from pequi pulp and almond oils. The results obtained were very good, but the low yield of the pequi oil was an unfavorable factor in the development of phytocosmetics. Concomitantly, it was observed that pequi cake, a solid residue of the pulp from the oil extraction process, which is normally discarded, showed an excellent yield, besides having important bioactive compounds, according to the literature. Thus, we performed some preliminary studies of its antioxidant activity and obtained surprising results. In view of this situation, this project aims to develop a cream with antiaging activity, and enriched with the hidroethanolic extract of pequi pie, resulting from the process of extracting its oil from its pulp. For this, the absence of toxicity of the extract and the antioxidant, antiaging and photoprotective potential of the cream will be evaluated, besides quantifying the concentration of total phenols and flavonoids present in the formulation and to check its quality and stability. This project is a partnership between researchers from UNESP of Assis, who seek, through scientific knowledge, the correct use of the plants of the cerrado, its economic use and consequently its preservation.
