Abstract

Introduction: The fruit Noni (Morindra Citrifolia Linn) contains a wide variety of active components, including a rich source of proxeronine, an alkaloid used to revitalize cells. The fruit in question has antibacterial action, which is due to the presence of phenolic compounds such as acubin, L-asperuloside, alizarin, scopoletin and other anthraquinones. They act mainly against Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Escherichia coli, potentially infectious bacteria and related to high human mortality. In addition, Noni inhibits the in vitro growth of other bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus, Proteus morgaii, Bacillus subtilis, Helicobacter pylori, Salmonella and Shigella. Also notable is the non-tuberculous action of Noni, in which the hexane fraction of the fruit extract is able to inhibit the growth of Mycobacterium tuberculosis in 89 to 95% of the cases. Objective: To evaluate the therapeutic response of Noni juice in infected wounds. Specific objectives: Perform histological and macroscopic analysis of the lesions and healing in the periods of 7 days, 14 days and 21 days of topical use of the Noni fruit. Assess the healing time. To evaluate and compare the hematological differential count on the day of the wound dressing procedure, 24h and 72h after the same. To evaluate the weight of the animals during the period of treatment and food intake; To evaluate the proliferative index and angiogenesis; Materials and Methods: A total of 42 Wistar rats will be randomly assigned to the control group using placebo and noni group with topical use of Noni product. Each group will be subdivided into 3 subgroups according to sacrifice time, being subgroup 7, 14 and 21 days. The animals will be sacrificed on their respective days and skin sections will be analyzed histologically and through the immunohistochemical method using Ki-67 antibodies to define cell proliferation and angiogenesis with factor VIII and CD-34 antibodies.
