Abstract

Young patients presenting with hip pain are getting more frequent in clinical practice. The number of papers and research related to these diseases are also increasing. Femoroacetabular impingement (FAI) and hip instability are among the most frequent diagnosis. Hip instability was recently described, in contrast with the classical idea of the hip as a stable joint. Initial treatment of hip instability is clinical, consisting of physiotherapy, where the main focus is muscle strengthening and pelvic stabilization. When physiotherapy fails, surgery can be performed, consisting of hip arthroscopy, which consists of labral repair with suture anchors, and capsular plication. There is a paucity of literature regarding hip instability. Few articles describe its diagnosis, treatment and clinical results. The goal of this research project is to compare the clinical results after physioterapic treatment and surgical treatment of hip instability, in a referral center. The main endpoints evaluated will be pain visual scale, the iHOT-33 and return to sport. (AU)
