Abstract

There is a recommendation that when assessing any psychological characteristics, the psychologist use multimethod for an overview of the specific characteristic. However, the literature shows inconsistences between different methods that are used to assess the same construct, especially when referring to self-report and performance tasks such as Rorschach. Some authors describes that theses differences are related to the nature of the task, the way a person should respondent it, and so on. These aspects result in two main perceptive of the same construct. For example, in the Emotional Intelligence (EI) assessment we have maximal performance tasks, such as Mayer-Salovey-Caruso Emotional Intelligence Test (MSCEIT), self-report tasks, such as Trait Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire (TEIQue) and some Rorschach variables that are related to EI. Some studies show that when controlling some variables such as response styles and ability degree is possible to better understand the relationship between these two methods of assessment. Thus, this study aim is to verify the correlation between Rorschach and EI self-report measures when controlling the degree of ability. To do so, we'll analysis a dataset of 100 participants separating them in two groups: the highest and lowest scores in EI. Then, we'll compare the relationship between Rorschach EI variables and self-report measures. It's expected that moderate correlations will be find when controlling this variable.
