Abstract

Huanglongbing (HLB or greening) is considered one of the most important citrus diseases in the world. This disease has as a causal agent a gram-negative bacterium named Candidatus Liberibacter spp of occurrence restricted to the vessels of the phloem. Although there were no reports in the literature of the existence of resistant genotypes, through studies it was possible to confirm that the multiplication of the bacteria is a contrasting characteristic between citrus species, related genera and hybrids, thus suggesting a tolerance to the bacteria in Poncirus, Persia and Atalantia. Thus with the current scenario, Poncirus trifoliata and its hybrids have attracted much attention from researchers because of their importance as rootstock and tolerance to the bacteria. In this sense, it is of great importance to evaluate, under field conditions, the reaction of different citrandarins (hybrids of microtangerins and Poncirus trifoliata) selected by the work carried out by the Program for Improvement of the Citrus Center Sylvio Moreira of the Agronomic Institute (IAC), Candidatus Liberibacter asiaticus, causal agent of HLB.
