Abstract

This research project to take place in Portuguese and Goan libraries and archives, It fits in the pursuit and deepening of the objectives defined in the project designed and approved by fits in the pursuit and deepening of the objectives defined in the project designed and approved by FAPESP (2017/13966-1), around the cultural impact provoked by the colonial Act of 1930 read through the Goan journalistic production, in connection with the thematic project Pensando Goa (2014/15657-8) under the coordination of Hélder Garmes. With this project we intend to demonstrate the existence and participation of several Goan intellectual movements in the creation of an autonomous culture of opposition and resistance to the Portuguese Estado Novo revealing a contestation literature disclosed by the periodical press, that if on the one hand opposed progressive catholic to conservative ones supporters of the Portuguese dictatorial regime, on the other hand united catholic and Hindu elites, as well as new founded bridges to other intellectual groups in political exile, in and out of the Portuguese empire.
