Abstract

The present project "Development and preliminary application of a multi-crop global energy crop yield model on pastureland" is part of the FAPESP Thematic Project "Global Sustainable Bioenergy Initiative: Geospatial & environmental analysis of pastureland intensification for bioenergy". The project is being led by Dr. John Sheehan under the auspices of FAPESP's São Paulo Excellence Chair program. The broader project is a 3-year thematic project, conceived as a contribution to the Global Sustainable Bioenergy initiative, focusing on global-scale geospatial analysis relevant to bioenergy. The postdoctoral fellow will lead the effort to combine BioCro models and others for Miscanthus, switchgrass, sugarcane, willow, and Agave to create a multicrop global energy crop yield model. The post-doc will work under the supervision of Dr. John Sheehan (São Paulo Excellence Chair, Unicamp) and with supporting advice from Dr. Steve Long, Dr. David LeBauer and Dr. Deepak Jaiswal (from the University of Illinois).The postdoc will be responsible for incorporating the new model into BioCro a global bioenergy modeling platform developed by Dr. Steve Long at the University of Illinois and for using the model to simulate productivity for energy crops.
