Abstract

The experiments of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) particle accelerator in the European laboratory CERN (Organization Européenne pour la Recherches Nucléaires) are always seeking to improve their measurements motivated by new knowledge acquired over time. Towards the end of this decade, a number of improvements are planned in the ALICE (A Large Ion Collider Experiment) experiment to deepen several studies performed by the collaboration. One of the most important updates corresponds to the installation in the TPC (Time Projection Chamber) of GEM (Gas Electron Multiplier) type cameras, which is necessary to allow the measurement of events in the high collision rates predicted for the LHC from 2020 onwards. The objective of this project is to develop simulations of these MPGD (Micropattern Gaseous Detectors) cameras and detectors in general, using different simulation software such as Garfield ++ or GEANT4, which are programs developed by CERN laboratory groups with object oriented programming.
