Abstract

Integrated farming systems are being considered as a way of increasing the sustainability of aquaculture. However, they can generate different types of nutrient accumulation according to the eating habits of each species in the nursery. It was observed that there is usually accumulation of nutrients in the benthic extract. Thus, in this work, the hypothesis that the efficiency of nitrogen use, added to semi-intensive aquaculture systems in nurseries, is progressively increased with the addition of benthic habitat species with ecological niches complementary to the target species. The accumulations of nitrogen will be quantified in the main compartments of the system. An experiment will be carried out in twelve nurseries with a natural background, with 3 treatments and 4 replicates. In this process, we will analyze the lambari yellow tail monoculture systems (Astyanax lacustris) and two integrated multitrophic cultures of the species lambari yellow tail and Amazonian shrimp (Macrobrachium amazonicum) and lambari yellow tail, shrimp and curimbatá (Prochilodus lineatus). These species can be grown in the same facility due to different eating habits and spatial distribution. Only lambaris will be fed commercial feed of 36% crude protein and 2.5 mm granules, twice daily until satiety, representing the entry of allochthonous organic matter. For the analysis, samples of the sediment, the water of the crop and the rain, of the gases, of the ration offered to the lambari and the animals populated and spent for the determination of the nitrogen contents will be collected. The inputs and outputs of nitrogen from the system will be quantified.
