Abstract

In Nature, lipases catalyze the hydrolysis of ester linkages. However, by the principle of micro-reversibility, the reverse reaction also occurs at the molecular level. Therefore, these enzymes are industrially used as hydrolases in macro-aqueous systems and as synthetases in organic medium (with restricted water content). These two processes can be combined sequentially in interesterification reactions and, depending on the substrates, esterifications or transesterifications may occur. In this project the student will implement kinetic models for pancreatic lipases, commercial microbes of several sources, immobilized and stabilized by groups of the Thematic Project to which this CI is linked. These derivatives will be used for the production of aromatic esters and lubricants (subproject 4.2), Biosurfactants/emulsifiers (subproject 4.1), MAGs/DAGs (subproject 4.1) and Ethyl Biodiesel via enzymatic (subprojects 4.5 and 5.3).
