Graphene and its derivatives due to its excellent properties have presented a very wide range of possible applications, being one of them to be approached in this project. This project is part of the development of polymer nanocomposites, specifically the polyethylene terephthalate (PET)/graphene oxide (GO) system. For this project, the melt mixing technique will be used to prepare the nanocomposites using a twin screw extruder. The main objective of this work will be to obtain PET/GO nanocomposites with high barrier and mechanical properties for the packaging sector, without losing the high degree of PET transparency. The dispersion, interaction and morphology of nanocomposites based on three different compositions (0.05%, 0.1% and 0.3% by mass) will be evaluated, in addition to characterizing the thermal, mechanical and gas barrier properties.
