Abstract

The aim of this study will be to evaluate the impact of pre-gestational obesity on systemic and periodontal conditions during the 3º trimester of gestation and after labor, as well as on the anthropometric parameters of the baby at birth. The sample will be composed of 60 patients that will be divided into pregnant woman who have obesity (G1=30) and pregnant woman who have adequate weight (G2=30), which will be evaluate during the 3º trimester of gestation (T1) and after the born (T2). The variables evaluated will be: a) anthropometric variables -T1 (weight and BMI) and T2 (weight, BMI and waist- hip ratio); b) schooling level, monthly family income and systemic compromises (diabetes mellitus, arterial hypertension and anemia); c) oral hygiene behaviors (daily dental brushing and daily dental floss use); d) periodontal conditions (gingivitis and periodontitis); e) babies' anthropometric parameters at birth (birth week, weight and height at birth). The Kolmogorov-Smirnov and Shapiro-Wilk tests will be applied to verify the normality of the quantitative variables. If normality, t test and ANOVA will be adopted to analyses between groups and between periods, respectively. To the quantitative without normal distribution and qualitative ordinal variables, Mann-Whitney e Friedman will be applied to analyses between groups and between periods, respectively. To the qualitative nominal variable, chi-square test and Q de Cochran will be applied to analyses between groups and between periods, respectively. After bivariate analyses, independents variables that show p<0,2 will be inserted on logistic regression model in order to find relationship of the variables with the outcome (0= without periodontitis; 1= with periodontitis). The level of significance adopted will be 5%.
