Abstract

Biological invasion is one of the main factors that can lead to a loss of biodiversity and is, therefore, fundamental to find information about the various processes related to it. Hedychium coronarium, is an Asian macrophyte considered invasive in several countries. Brazil is not difficult to find established and largely dispersed populations, especially in riparian areas and in swampy environments. The objective of this study is to elucidate the influence of this species to the native regeneration at the Ecological Station of Mogi Guaçu and also of the municipality of São Carlos-SP. From the results obtained, we intended to systematize the information that involves the elaboration of a plan for the management and environmental recovery of areas invaded by this species, as well as the construction of an informative material, which can be used for both actions of environmental education, regarding the development of public policy reports, which can help in the conservation of biodiversity.
