Abstract

This project aims to interpret the Chico Buarque's novel Estorvo and the Kleber Mendonça's movies Aquarius e Som ao redor. Through a formal analyze of the objects, it will be tried to establish a profitable point of view to comprehend some of the main questions and impasses of part of Brazilian contemporary artistic production.The main way of investigation will be by discussing the relationships established by these artists with a tradition that is, second its own formulators, in a disintegration process - the "tradição da formação". Briefly, this tradition had as its political program the articulation - took by a wide "progressive" front - of national industrialization and integration of the population to citizenship. On culture, its program was, very briefly again, aimed at the racial miscegenation and in a civilization result from the classes gathering. A tradition, thus, with a prognostic effort. Nevertheless, the future it would have already "come", without the realization of the utopia; furthermore, the possibilities of this realization it appeared to be "vanished".In this way, it's objective of this project the comprehension of problems, limits and solutions found by these artists, especially in relation to their affiliation with a tradition that recognizes in itself the obsolescence of some of its fundamental pillars of support.
