Abstract

Yttria-stabilized tetragonal zircônia (Y_TZP) presents hydrotermal instability in low temperatures by the transformation of the tetragonal fase into monoclinic fase, leading to low temperature degradation (LTD) and possible impairment of mechanical properties. Inside the aid Jovem Pesquisador 2012/19078-7, in which this project inserts, some compositions of zirconia toughened alumina (ZTA) are being synthesized and characterized with the aim to circumvent the limitations of Y-TZP. This project proposes the synthesis and characterization of a composition of alumina toughened zirconia (ATZ) of 80% ZrO2 -20% Al2O3, in other words, with a different approach comparing with what we have done in another orientations linked to this aid JP (FAPESP #2016/24165-7, 2016/18657-4, 2016/17793-1, 2017/19362-0). Will be prepared 40 proof bodies in disc format with final dimension of 12 mm of diameter and 1mm of thickness by uniaxial and isostatic pressing. After sintered and polished, optic properties will be evaluated (n=10) by white (Yw) and black (Yb) background reflectance in spectrophotometer to obtain values of the contrast ratio and translucency parameter. Will be performed biaxial flexural strength test (ISO 6872:2015) (n=30/grupo) and fractographic analysis for the calculation of the probability of survival, Weibull module and characteristic strength. The cristaline fases will be observed by X-ray diffraction test (XRD) (n=3). (AU)
