Abstract

Understanding species distribution patterns in space and time and historical and contemporary processes influencing species distribution can help in biodiversity management and conservation plans. In order to evaluate the degree of conservation of the biodiversity of the Atlantic Forest, the aim is identify climatic refuges of amphibians and snakes in the Atlantic Forest for present and future. To analyze what happen to the areas of potential occurrence of the species and the different components of the diversity in each refuge (taxonomic, functional and phylogenetic). For this, we will use the species distribution modeling for the definition of climate refugia in the present and in the future scenarios of climate change in two scale (10 and 30 arcminutes). We will test the hypothesis that the southeastern mountains correspond to climate refugia for snakes and amphibians because these areas have climatic stability and high rates of endemism.
