This research project aims to understand how the diagnoses of mental disorders related to anxiety are being mobilized in the daily practice of a psychiatric clinic. The particular interest in Panic Syndrome is explained by the form of its diagnosis: the disorder has recently arisen from the clinical confirmation of the consequences of the use of a medication. The links between the consolidation of this disorder and the use of psychoactive drugs is one of the reasons why physicians-researchers of the Institute of Psychiatry of the Hospital das Clínicas of the University of São Paulo (IPq-HCFMUSP) have invested in alternative models of treatment. Among these models, we highlight the referral to the Ambulatory of Spirituality, recently inaugurated in HC. This outpatient clinic has promoted therapeutic practices such as: mindfulness, yoga and mandalas in the care of patients with Panic Disorder. This research thematizes this process, seeking to trigger reflections whose purpose is to understand how different treatments, such as alternative therapies, could transform not only the disorder itself but the ways in which it becomes intelligible.
