Abstract

This project investigates the translation of web news (spanish-portuguese) focused, especially, in some aspects of the representation if the feminine gender. Understanding the translation as a phenomenon of "cultural representation" Polchlopek e Zipser (2006), it is intended to propose a reflexion about the final results of the translation process, what does involves the translation strategies related with this process; what is behind of the choices of a translator; the role of the of the social institutions in the translation of journalistic texts and the power and the influence which the mass media play in the transmission of the perpetuation of ideologies. The research to be developed, of quantitative nature, is based on the survey, observation, understanding, interpretation, description and analysis of the linguistics phenomenon present in a parallel bilingual corpus, elaborated especially to his research, composed by journalistic texts of the main websites and news agencies of international news. We purpose to analyses the translation as a representation, based on the assumption, which the translation is not only between languages but also between different cultures.
