Abstract

In this project, we intend to study the immobilization of the phenylalanine dehydrogenase enzyme into Langmuir and Langmuir-Blodgett films of lipids, as well as to investigate the physical-chemical properties of the produced systems and possible applications for phenylalanine detection. Beyond the classical characterization techniques applied for nanostructured films (tensiometry, surface potential measurements, rheological analysis, and Brewster angle microscopy) we propose the use of advanced spectroscopic and optical measurements (epifluorescence microscopy, Circular dichroism, Ellipsometry and in situ Uv-visible spectroscopy) to enhance our knowledge of the interactions happening at molecular level between phenylalanine dehydrogenase and lipid matrices.
