There are eight deer species in Brazil and all of them show certain levels of external morphological similarities specially on those fur color. As there is an increase use of camera trap on ecological studies, there is also an increasing demand on deer pictures identification. Thus, it is necessary to produce an illustrated identification guide that show external morphological details of those species and that highlights relevant particularities on species discrimination. The aim of this project is to produce an illustrated guide for Brazilian deer species identification that describes its external morphology and as much as possible the species discriminant characteristics. Illustrations will be portrayed on plates and three techniques will be tested: colored pencils, watercolor and acrylic paint. On the plates will be showed the deer species focusing on its external morphology, fur colors and discriminant characteristics on a comparative and didactical approach.
