Behavioral problems and the practice of crimes during adolescence are influenced by the social conditions and social experiences of adolescents with different people in different contexts. Thus, the identification of people who compose the social networks of adolescents, as well as the quality of bonds, constitutes an important aspect to be investigated because exposure to deviant and criminal models influences the genesis and maintenance of criminal behavior. A good repertoire of social skills, in turn, prevents adolescents from being easily influenced into the practice of crimes when in the face of family contexts, or contexts of their peers or community, presenting criminal models. Therefore, this study's objective is to verify whether there are differences in terms of social skills and social networks of male and female adolescents who have been through the criminal justice system and those who have not and whether these differences are associated with the amount of deviant and/or criminal behaviors related to them. The study will be conducted with 30 adolescents subject to close socio-educational supervision in the city of Franca, SP, Brazil and 30 adolescents who had never had problems with the justice; half the sample is composed of females and half of males. Data will be collected through a Questionnaire addressing Juvenile Behavior, Social Skills Inventory for Adolescents, and Social Network Map. This investigation is expected to enable a better understand the role of social skills and influences of social network on the behavior or adolescents, which can support the development of interventions intended to prevent and reduce deviant and criminal behavior.
