Abstract

The research intends to study how generalists (as decision makers in real organizations) can benefit from interactive visualization with advanced technologies to better use Operations Research mathematical models. The project will be run at the Computational and Visual Education Lab (CAVE) from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology MIT, which has state of the art infrastructure available. It will be employed a prototype (already developed and tested in the project FAPESP 2017/20649-2) of an advanced visualization environment of group decision support. The prototype implements a business logistics case in a group decision support system (GDDS) for locating logistics facilities. Experiments with groups of volunteer students will be run to verify if the decision quality obtained with the help of visual interactive GDSS is superior to the traditional case (control group). The MIT experiments will be added to experiments from USP and elsewhere to increase sample size and to allow the analysis of cultural and technological factors.
