Abstract

Elderly caregivers with major neurocognitive disorders presented more depression, stress, lower self-efficacy, lower subjective well-being and lower levels of physical health compared to non-caregivers, considering the social implications and damages to physical and mental health that this practice it may be noted that resilience may contribute to the adaptation to stress for these caregivers. There are world-wide-used screening tools, however, few are concerned with resilience in this population. Therefore, the Caregiver Resilience Scale was developed recently by researchers in Bangkok. Objective: To perform the translation and cultural adaptation of Caregiver Resilience Scale to the Brazilian context. Method: Methodological study of translation and cultural adaptation of the instrument called Caregiver Resilience Scale. The steps recommended by the literature will be followed: initial translation, synthesis of translations, back-translation, review by a committee of experts, pre-test and evaluation of psychometric properties. The instruments used in the last stage of the study with 40 caregivers of individuals with neurocognitive disorders of the community will be: instrument of characterization of the participants and Caregiver Resilience. Expected results: Through the development of this study it is expected to obtain the adapted version of the CAREGIVER RESILIENCE SCALE scale for the Brazilian context, as well as to increase the knowledge about the resilience level of caregivers of elderly people with major neurocognitive disorder and to compare with the national and international literature. Finally, inform the scientific community about the results of the research, presenting the results in scientific events. (AU)
