Abstract

Gingivitis and Peri-Implant Mucositis are reversible inflammatory diseases, which do not show loss of supportive tissue and leave no sequelae. However despite the apparent similarities, differences in inflammatory response and microbiome may be present between teeth and implants and among patients with a history of disease compared to healthy patients. Knowledge of different microbiological and immunological factors can help in the search for biomarkers for health and disease status. Therefore the objective of this study is to evaluate, through clinical, microbiological and immunological tests, the changes during the experimental Gingivitis and Mucositis model, between teeth and implants, and between patients with a history of aggressive Periodontitis and healthy individuals. 20 patients will be include, 10 healthy and 10 with a history of aggressive Periodontitis. All patients must present the same type of implant and abutments, with prostheses in function for more than 6 months. They should also have a tooth located in the contralateral hemi-arch in a similar position, allowing a comparison with the implant. They will be submitted to the plaque-induced inflammation by suspension of oral hygiene only in the tested areas (tooth/implant), protected by a personalized stent made of plastic, according to the experimental Gingivitis and Mucositis model of 21 days of duration. Clinical parameters will be collected at baseline, 7, 14, 21 and 42 days. The gingival crevicular fluid and peri-implant and biofilm collections will be performed in the same periods. The subgingival biofilm will be analyzed by sequencing of genes by the 16S rRNA. Inflammatory markers according to the multi-assay method (multiplex dosage Magpix") with xPONENT® software. To compare the parameters evaluated, tests will be used (± = 5%). (AU)
