Abstract

This proposal for the Research Internship in Amsterdam is part of the FAPESP/NWO project "Configuration of housing areas in the municipality of São Paulo. Case studies: buildings Dandara/Ipiranga and Maria Domitila", linked to the FAPESP project "Between self-regulation and formal government: the challenges of self-build housing and facilities - BESEFOGO".Its aim is to provide a brief study on the self-management characteristics of two case studies in the cities of Amsterdam and Almere, in The Netherlands, to understand how the self-management process of local housing develops. From this, it is possible to make a comparative study with the self-managed housing of the city of São Paulo; the main objective of the BESEFOGO project. The research seeks to understand the different forms of housing in both European cities and the results throughout this project, through field research including interviews and visits, always considering them as examples of a developed country. It is essential to have a study close to the subject so that the desired comparative analysis is possible, since São Paulo, in whose main access to housing, allied to self-construction, is through self-management, has physical, social, historical and economic attributes in a very context distinct from Dutch cities.
