Abstract The forms of production of contemporary urban space, strongly guided by the economic interests of landowners and developers, have been materializing through the growth in the number of medium and high standard closed lots, thus diversifying and intensifying the process of socio-spatial segregation, which, in the current period, is also composed of forms of self-segregation. This research project proposes to analyze how the process of social-spatial self-segregation occurs in the urban agglomeration of Araçatuba, through an investigation about the closed residential spaces located in the municipalities of Araçatuba and Birigui, focusing on the agents that produce urban space and are responsible for the projects on the roads connecting the two cities.
