Abstract

In time series of insect populations, is common the observation of peaks and drastic decreases in populations, many times becoming recurrent or rare, but characterized by wide spectrum, resulting in outbreaks or dramatic decreases undesirable for different reasons. The objective of this study is to analyses pest outbreaks in time series, by monitoring data from literature and provided by companies, identifying oscillation patterns preceding outbreaks, in order to estimate the probability of outbreak occurrence in response to changes in population sizes, producers of overlapping time trajectories.
