Abstract

The regular practice of physical exercises is associated with several benefits, such as preventing chronic inflammation, reduction of the risk of developing anxiety disorders, weight loss and gain of lean body mass. Metabolomics is a science that studies the metabolites involved in the functioning of organisms and their changes. The study on the metabolomic profile of athletes can show information about biomarkers associated to the practice of physical activities, on the corporal response to extreme situations and on how to improve the athlete's performance. In this study, the untargeted metabolomics profile of high-performance athletes in the 400 m category in different training phases will be studied. For this purpose, urine samples will be collected before and after training. The samples will be derivatized and analyzed by Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS). Thereby, it is intended to obtain answers at the metabolic level about the exercise in practice to intervene in the improvement of the performance of each athlete. (AU)
