Abstract

The aim of this study was to evaluate the microhardness (MS) and surface roughness (SR) of three materials used as surface protectors: Icon® commercial infiltrant (IC), experimental infiltrant (IE) and Prevent resin sealant (SR). Resin disks of the materials (n=120) will be made and then the initial tests of microhardness and roughness will be made. After, they will be divided into 2 subgroups (n = 20) for erosive simulation in different solutions: by gastric acid and refrigerant. The demineralizing cycle (DES) and remineralizing (RE) by gastric acid with pH=2.3 will be 2min in DES solution and 60min in RE solution of artificial saliva; and by refrigerant with pH=2.9 will be 5min in DES solution and 60min in artificial saliva RE solution. The cycling for both solutions will be performed 4 times a day for 5 days. At the end of the cycling, the specimens will be kept in relative humidity and evaluated again for the surface. The data will be tabulated and analyzed by two-way ANOVA and Tukey test for comparison between groups of materials used with a statistical significance level of 5%.
