Abstract

This project of research intends to describe and analyze the relations between gender and space on the female prostitution of São Paulo. Therefore, ethnographic work will be realized on the streets and closed spaces of the city, in the search to apprehend, through the participant-observation, the productions of gender that define these territories. Another issue for consideration is how these metropolitan spaces of São Paulo are founded on gendered relations, in the occupations of public spaces by female sex workers or in their allocation in closed spaces with a male domain. The research intends to continue the investigations made on the project "Trans-cities: marginal mobilities on Butantã", coordinated by the teacher Silvana Nascimento (Programa Unificado de Bolsas - University of São Paulo).
