Abstract

Medicine has undergone technological innovations every day, be it in the field of medicines, surgeries, educational or technological development. Among these areas, transplantation deserves special mention, since it goes through constant periods of technological renewals that have allowed the patient to have access to new means of surgery and obtain an organ or a graft. However, this area has always experienced difficulties, either due to the unavailability of donations, incompatibility or rejection of patients in using an animal tissue or a corpse. Due to this problem the field of medical technology has played an important role in the search for materials that can be compatible with the human organism that can replace organs or functions and are well accepted by the patient and have availability and low cost of production. The purpose of this study is to replace allotransplants or autotransplants for the reconstruction of medium-caliber arteries by materials of vegetable origin, in order to reduce the invasive process to the patient, through a material with great availability and without ethical or religious conflicts. The use of plant stem for the development of scaffolds for blood vessels, aims to supply all these needs by being biocompatible with the human organism, thus allowing the development of scaffolds that can be used for grafts of blood vessels.
