Abstract

The project to be developed during the internship period at the Bibliotheca Hertziana - Max Planck Institute for Art History in Rome will aim at studying 28 Italian paintings from the Collection of the Museum of Contemporary Art of the University of São Paulo (MAC USP), whose origin and interpretation within the largest set of modern Italian works under investigation since 2009, are still to be properly studied. They indicate another hypothesis of choices and relations of Italian art with the artistic milieu of São Paulo in the context of the creation of the Museum of Modern Art of São Paulo in the 1940s. Furthermore, this study is in the scope of the thematic project that I develop and of wich I am the coordinating researcher, whose main objective is the research around the collection of modern art of MAC USP.
