Abstract

The growing number of applications based on Internet of Things (IoT) demonstrates the importance of live data transmission. When analyzed and processed precisely the data show their capacity of affecting significantly the operational management of cities, industries, and several economic sectors, such as agriculture and livestock industry. Despite of this recent technology had already been incorporated in some specific agroindustries, some of the most relevant operations concerning the sector are still subject to improvements based on IoT. Some crops harvested as grains, stalk or bunch (eg. soybean, sugar cane, coconuts) present some logistical issues concerning the process of transshipment vehicles swap when they reach their maximum loading capacity in the harvesting. In order to solve such issue, this research aims to elaborate the conception and prototyping of a sensing system applicable to transshipments vehicles, capable of collecting and transmitting data, through a specific wireless network designed to IoT applications, regarding the weight and volume of the load collected by the transshipment, in order to instruct the right moment to swap the vehicles. In this project is expected to determine the best solutions concerning the sensors, the wireless networks, and the data transmission and processing in order to generate useful information that can help making the decisions concerning the swap transshipment vehicles in the harvest process.
