Abstract

Large field of view telescopes are giving a great contribution to time-domain astrophysics. As a good example, one of the main projects of the next decade is the Large Synoptic Survey Telescope (LSST), whose main science case is the study of the variable sky. Currently, IAG/USP is involved in two projects which make use of two twin telescopes, which make use of large field of view, as well as an extraordinary image quality and a unique filter set: the J-PLUS and S-PLUS projects, carried out at the Observatorio Astrofísico de Javalambre (OAJ) and at the Cerro Tololo Interamerican Observatory (CTIO).J-VAR is a project intended to take advantage of non-photometric weather at the OAJ and CTIO, without reducing the efficiency of J-PLUS and S-PLUS. The main science projects are Solar System objects, supernovae as well as pulsating and active stars. As an important by-product for J-PLUS, J-VAR will provide the identification of variable sources for which SED fitting may provide unreliable results. The current project will focus on assessing the data, calibrating them and be able to obtain reliable light curves.
