Influence of chitosan and nanodiamont incorporation on glass ionomer cement

Abstract

The aim of this study will be evaluate the influence of chitosan and nanodiamond incorporation on chromatic stability, fluorescence, surface roughness and microhardness of glass ionomer cements. Forty samples of glass ionomer cement will be made, and divided into 4 experimental groups, according to the incorporation of chitosan and nanodiamonds inserted in the Fuji II ionomeric cement: Group 1 (control): no incorporation will be carried out in the ionomeric cement; Group 2: incorporation of 10% chitosan; Group 3: incorporation of 10% nanodiamonds; Group 4: incorporation of 5% chitosan and 5% nanodiamonds (n = 10). The values of chromatic stability, fluorescence intensity, surface roughness and microhardness will be measured respectively by the visible ultraviolet reflection spectrophotometer (Shimadzu); fluorescence spectrophotometer (Shimadzu); perfilometer SJ-401 (Mitutoyo) and microhardness tester HMV-2000 (Shimadzu). After the initial measurements, the samples will be stored individually in red wine for 28 days. Data will be submitted to statistical tests of normality and specific tests to verify the significance between the means. Representative samples of all experimental groups will be taken to scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and dispersive energy spectroscopy (EDS).
