Abstract

Seaweed products exhibit activities that stimulate growth and the use of seaweed formulations as biostimulants have been used in agricultural production. Phytohormones are physiologically important small molecules that play essential roles in intricate signaling networks that regulate diverse processes in plants. Recent results suggest that measuring phytohormone levels in various seaweed products could be a very potent tool for plant biotechnology. The aim of this study is simultaneous targeted profiling of 101 phytohormone-related analyses from minute amounts of dry seaweed material (less than 20 mg), characterizing plant growth regulators of Gracilaria (from Brazil) and Antarctic seaweeds species, can be a biotechnological potential for agriculture. The methodology that will used for identification and quantification will be rapid and nonselective extraction, fast one-step sample purification, and extremely sensitive ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry enable concurrent quantification of the main phytohormone classes: cytokinins, auxins, Abscisic acid and gibberellins.
