Abstract The project aims to deepen our investigation on the relations between the Brazilian and French publishing market in the second half of the twentieth century, a fundamental aspect of the development of the thesis Paul Monteil e Difel: edição e difusão do pensamento universitário brasileiro. The work focuses on the trajectory of Paul Jean Monteil and the companies he founded in the city of São Paulo-Livraria Francesa, in 1947, and the Difusão Europeia do Livro (Difel), in 1951-, considering them as part of the growth and diversification of the book market in Brazil. The relations that nurture this process occur in relation to the dynamics of economic, cultural and symbolic structures that insert the country in an international circuit of the circulation of ideas.Regarding our object, it is a matter of considering the dialogue with France and understanding the mediating role played by Paul Monteil and his undertakings in the process of receiving French ideas through the importation, trade and publishing of books, and their consequences to the Brazilian market. | |
