Abstract

This project is part of what contemporary educational literature refers to astransnational history of education. By crossing borders, this historiographical referenceredefines territories and sets the national histories within international contexts,presenting transnational relations, connections, interdependencies. The purpose is tostudy the circulation of subjects, artifacts, knowledge and practices and understand howin Brazil, since the beginning of the 19th century there were appropriations andexchanges of knowledge and actions at international level. This symbolic universe thusinscribed marks of innovation in the different traditions that made up and composedknowledge and educational practices until nowadays.The project is organized into four thematic axes, so-called: 1) digital archives andlibraries: book and reading history; 2) subjects and artifacts: movements and traces; 3)innovation and tradition: leaks and counterpoints; 4) didactic material for publiceducation and teacher training. Each of these axes is coordinated by two researchersfrom the Faculty of Education of the University of São Paulo and counts on thecollaboration of researchers from other universities of São Paulo State and internationalinstitutions.
