Abstract

This project presents a continuation of the project at the level of scientific initiation, developed in the last 24 months, in the area of electromagnetic transient phenomena in transmission lines. The proposal is to develop in Python platform numerical routines based on sparse matrices for simulation of electromagnetic transient phenomena in transmission lines. Sparse matrices are applied for reducing computational costs, as well as, the possibility of increasing the numbers of À circuits for modeling transmission lines. In addition, intensive training will be performed in the use of EMTP (Eletromagnetic Transient Program) programs for simulation of phenomena related to atmospheric discharges. It will be an opportunity to work with programs of the EMTP type in collaboration with the Portuguese research group of the Instituto Superior Técnico of the University of Lisbon headed by Maria Teresa Correia de Barros.
