Abstract

The objective of this project is to make a comparative analysis of the proposals of colonial overcoming elaborated by the Brazilian sociologist and politician Alberto Guerreiro Ramos (1915-1982) and by the martinican-Algerian psychiatrist and philosopher Frantz Omar Fanon (1925-1961). For this, my main sources are the books The Crisis of Power in Brazil (1961) by Guerreiro and In Defense of the African Revolution (1964) by Fanon. As an initial hypothesis, I suppose that their respective theories reflect similarities but mainly differences in the thinking and context of these authors. Thus, I analyze how these two black intellectuals and militants, from their respective contexts in Brazil and Algeria, conceived the colonial situation of Third World countries in the second half of the twentieth century, specifically between the 1950s and 1960s.
