Abstract

This project aims to examine the relationship between subjectivity and objectivity in the novel of formation Wilhelm Meister Apprenticeship by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, in the light of the concept of aesthetic disinterest presented by Immanuel Kant in his Critique of Judgment. In this direction, we will analyze the important discussion about "destiny" and "chance" undertaken by Goethe throughout his novel, whose foundations, besides dialoguing with the philosophical and literary tradition, are also determinant to understanding the subjective and objective aspects of the work.
