Abstract

The aim of this study will be to evaluate the periodontal condition and quality of life before and after delivery of women with and without gestational hypertension diagnosis. The sample will be composed of 60 pregnant women that will be divided into: with gestational hypertension (G1=30) and without gestational hypertension (G2=30), which will be evaluate during the 3º trimester of pregnancy (T1) and after delivery (T2). The variables evaluated will be: a) anthropometric variables (weight, height and BMI); b) socioeconomic level (schooling level and household monthly income); c) oral hygiene behaviors (daily frequency of toothbrushing and daily dental floss using); d) periodontal conditions (gingivitis and periodontitis); e) newborns' anthropometric parameters (birth week, weight, height and BMI at birth). The Kolmogorov-Smirnov and Bartlett tests will be applied to verify the normality and homoscedasticity of the quantitative variables. If there is normality, t test and ANOVA will be adopted to analyses between groups and between periods, respectively. For quantitative variables without normality and qualitative ordinal variables, Mann-Whitney e Friedman will be applied to analyze the differences between groups and periods, respectively. For qualitative nominal variables, chi-square test and Q de Cochran will be applied to analyze the difference between groups and periods, respectively. After bivariate analysis, independent variables that show p<0.2 will be inserted on logistic regression model in order to find the association of these variables with the outcome (0= without periodontitis; 1= with periodontitis). The significance level of 5% will be adopted. (AU)
