Abstract The advancement of dentistry as a science in recent years offers constant changes in the scientific and technological fields, allowing procedures to be improved, respecting the biological limits of the tissue in which they are applied. With an implant dentistry, many problems related to rehabilitation controls can be solved, such as lack of retention, stability, aesthetics and function of prosthetic devices, permits for patients with better quality of life. Halitosis can be defined as an abnormal breathing condition in which there is a change in smell, being undesirable, being an obstacle or a factor of incompatibility in personal contacts and often causing a voluntary or discriminatory social withdrawal. Thus, the aim of the present study will be to evaluate the halitosis of 40 patients before and after the installation of healing and implant prostheses. Study presented four distinct groups: group 1 (unitary fixed prostheses); group 2 (multiple fixed prostheses); group 3 (prosthetic overdenture); group 4 (protocol-type fixed prostheses). Measurement of halitosis in patients will be by means of a halimeter (FitScan Breath Checker - Tanita, Japan). As it will not be performed at the moment and 30 days after the installation of the scars, at the moment and 30 days after the installation of the prosthesis. Hygienic instructions will be given to patients on the day of prosthesis installation verbally and in writing. Descriptive statistical analysis will be performed to represent the summary measures of the measured variables. After evaluation of the statistical analysis, the tests can be approved as parametric tests or not, with a significance level of 5%. | |
