Abstract

Sugarcane is of great economic importance for the country and especially for the state of São Paulo, generating jobs and income for many municipalities. This crop produces sugar, a raw material exported worldwide, ethanol, a biofuel widely used by vehicles, and has the capacity to generate energy, supplying urban areas. However, the crop has been suffering more and more with the reduction of its productivity and also the number of cuttings of the wood, consequently causing an increase of its cost. One of the reasons for this factor is the occurrence of crop line failures due to improper handling or the attack of pests and diseases, heavy machine traffic and poor mechanized cutting causing damage to the stalk. In order to increase productivity and decrease costs, producers and mills have been acquiring Precision Farming techniques, allied with Remote Sensing to obtain more information to help in decision-making about the crop. The experiment will take place in two sugarcane areas, where analyzes will be performed on crop failures, observing their size, plant height for crop aerial images and flight height to obtain aerial images, which will be made by a DJI® Inspire 1® Drone. Images will be processed by a Software to obtain fault locations and sizes. Biometric variables will be subjected to regression analysis and the efficiency of using drone aerial images to determine the faults. (AU)
